A Week of Water: Day 1 – Water, Water Everywhere!
Are you up for a challenge this week, folks? I promise you won’t drown
Thank you Adam
lolx My challenge is that I encourage you to drink up to 2L of water in 24 hours for the next 7 days. Are you up for it? And let me know, what differences you notice in your daily lives.
If you work at a computer all day, then place a reminder on your Desktop alarm to remind you
If you have a mobile phone with an alarm then do the same on these, especially as you are out and about. Ladies it’s easier for us to carry a half litre or 1L bottle in our handbags – we seem to have everything else in it, so water can be a gift in this case.
Gentlemen, these fancy arm straps where you can place a water bottle inside (good for runners) may end up being a fashion statement and get’s rid of the thought of having to carry a bag.
Scenario:
How often have you gone through the day, without so much as half a cup of tea or one cup of coffee and couldn’t recall the last time that you ate something or indeed drank any water?
Every phone call that you receive leads from one frustrating challenge to another and the more you try to solve problems the more complex things seems to get.
I think this just about sums up most of us, really. When you drink enough water (or if you prefer herbal teas with honey – I know this can be an acquired taste, Green Tea is another option as it’s full of anti-oxidants), then you are more likely to be nourishing your body and giving it the requirements it needs to serve you better. Yes that includes your poor worn out brain cells and the rest of your dehydrated body, chapped lips, dry skin, dry scalp, sunken eyes, Halitosis etc…….
Today, I have been doing lots of movement research in the studio and so my water requirements went up to 2.5L as I needed to replenish what I’ve lost through a heightened cardiovascular activity – my heart pumped more, my lungs worked harder and whatever insensible loss that was given off through expiration and perspiration, had to be replaced somehow.I chose lemon juice, mint tea and water and allowed myself one cup of decaffinated coffee

Remember also that we are about 70% water! This is a clue to our essential nature.Water covers 71% of the Earth’s surface according to Wikipedia. The beauty of it’s chemical structure is that it has 3 states of existence, solid, liquid and gas – now that’s marvelous and reminds me so much of how I think of water in its fluidity, flexibility, adaptability, strength, power and pliability.
So let’s just say for instance, I wake up in the morning creaking from the only 2 cups of coffee that I had yesterday and I head straight for the next 2 cups of coffee, what message do you think I will be giving my body for the next 16 hours that I am awake and moving around?
Somehow, I wonder, whether my body will support me through the day efficiently enough, as, underneath all of our incredible design, fascinating things are going on. New cells are replacing old cells. Hair is growing, nails are growing, my digestive system is working in collaboration with my heart and brain. And the human physiology is working tirelessly to facilitate this incredible anatomical sculpture.
But it’s getting starved of affection and the affection it needs is water, water, which is everywhere. There is water , wherever you look within the human body. Blood which contains 95% of water, Body Fat which contains 14% of water and Bone which contains 22% of water. Men have 60% of water in their bodies and Women have 55% according to Wikipedia.
So tomorrow, I will be discussing some hints and tips about dealing with specific challenges that can be solved with ‘water.’
Have a lovely day
Many blessings
“Water, water, everywhere, And all the boards did shrink; Water, water, everywhere, Nor any drop to drink….”
Samuel Taylor Coleridge – The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
“Water its living strength first shows, When obstacles its course oppose.”

A very timely blog. Yes, I’m one of those people who can get to the afternoon and realise that I haven’t had anything to drink all day. I always start the day with a juice, often have a coffee in the morning but notice if I have too many days with coffee and I actually start to feel worse and need to have a few caffeine free days.
Building up gradually is always a good idea. If I go straight for 2lt on day one, I’ll be popping to the loo every 5 minutes and it can place an extra strain on the kidneys. Little and often throughout the day is also better than trying to drink too much all at once.
Will join you getting back on track with the hydration. She says – heading off to have some water now.

Hi Clare, Thank you for your lovely comments. Yes you are right about building up the pace over an 8 hour day and I will be discussing that in tomorrow’s blog as you would be so surprised how much there is in that one large mug of tea
I’ve been measuring it all in my kitchen today as well:-) much love, liz.x
