Hints & Tips: Hydration

A whole day can go by sometimes, without me thinking about drinking a few more glasses of water or some more herbal tea. The average amount that an adult is required to drink is about 2 Litres a day. This is about 8 tall glasses per day. If you work in metric , that’s about 200mls and if you work in ounces its about 8 ounces.

*This differs for more active individuals such as dancers, sportswomen and men.*

It is very easy to get dehydrated. Some of the signs are dry skin, dry lips, a headache and constipation. Another down side is that dehydration can cause bad breath too. So do drink up.

Perhaps incorporate a glass of warm/hot water into your early morning routine, whilst preparing the most important meal of the day – yes Breakfast! Sometimes, I squeeze the juice of half a fresh lemon into a glass with some honey, add hot water and this is a wonderfully refreshing start to my day.

For every 6 hours of standing or sitting, our spines also need to be rehydrated and relaxed! This means that our spines need a 15 minute recuperation on the floor.

Hint
- If you are worried about dropping off to sleep, set the alarm on your phone.

Tips
- Find a nice comfortable spot on the floor.
- And Safely, Lie down on your back
- Bend your Knees up so that they are facing the ceiling and feet are planted firmly on
the floor about hip distance apart – this is known as the Semi-Supine position.
- Close your eyes and perhaps take a power nap.
