The Wisdom Of Your Spirit – Do You Have Trusted Advisors?

Scenario

A few days ago, a very close and dear friend of mine apologised to me for being unable to attend a gathering I was organising. Her reasons were work-related and certainly justifiable. Though I was a bit disappointed that she was otherwise detained with her corporate duties, I completely understood.

After the gathering and the events that ensued, I realised that her apology was really unnecessary and if she could have made it to my place after a long day at work she would have. Her spirit, guides her with wisdom and at certain times in our lives, our spirit, instinct, gut feeling – whatever we choose to call it, gives us clues about our surroundings.

Hint & Tip 1

In times of great stress, challenge and confusion, our mindset is on the move constantly and can be distorted by too much information from too many voices of well-meaning people. On days like this, it is even more important to really focus inwards and return to a place of deep quiet, breathing and meditation.

Recently, I have discovered in some of my dance and movement specialist research, that when one’s intent and clarity is displaced, then all the cells in the body revolt or seem to vibrate out of tune as if like an orchestra without a conductor, you can imagine, right?

So how did I return to a point of clarity in my being? Well…..with some difficulty, I confess.

Hint & Tip 2

However, I challenged my mindset with questions about trusting my deep inner instinct and returned to the few trusted advisors that I have grown to love and trust over time.

Trusted advisors and perhaps some friends, are people that genuinely care and have a vested interest in your success. They will often challenge you with hard-hitting questions about what you are doing and where you are going with a particular idea. And will reaffirm to you when you are on the right track.

Trusted advisors will never attack you with their own projected feelings that can turn into a slanging match or slyly pretend that they know all the answers to your challenges or even tell you that they are there to support you all the while, making your life even more challenging than it already is, due to set agendas of their own.

Often you will know the difference in your gut. Listen to it.

Hint & Tip 3

Trusted advisors or some call it power teams/networks will believe in you more than you do yourself and especially when the chips are down. The beauty of being a trusted advisor is having the grace to accept the decisions of your friend and allow them the space to take what serves them and to discard what  they have trouble accepting. I find that this is a wonderful way for me to detach from a situation, when I am called upon to advise. This way, I can still love and care for the person irrespective of my beliefs or theirs.

The beauty of having a gut instinct is that it is there for your protection and at times, we lose faith in ourselves because of life’s challenges. This is the time, crucially, that our gut instinct will be on high alert to be honest and when we need to pay attention even more. However, because of all the questions that we ask ourselves and the emotion that goes alongside it, we lose trust in our ‘instinct’ and sometimes to our peril. No matter…..as we still learn from these situations.l0l.x

Tip 4

So when in doubt, either sleep on it, perhaps the answer will come in the form of a dream, take a bath (perhaps that Eureka moment may be around the corner), but one thing is for sure, a combination of those trusted advisors but mostly, the wisdom of your spirit will find a way of letting you know what’s right for you.
