The walking Challenge – Day 6: Sunshine, Stress and Picking up The pace In Dulwich.

Another beautiful day in Dulwich, London :-) , how did you get on with increasing your time to say 45 minutes, today? Did you pace your walk by starting slowly and then picking up your pace gradually?

This afternoon, with the sun shining into the studio windows and my Pilates equipment getting a roasting, :-) I had a lovely new client who was just so willing to learn something new. :-) I taught some gentle breathing exercises in the studio and then made use of the great weather and environment to do some paced walking and breathing outside here. Outside the Studio

A new way of breathing can sometimes be a challenge to most of us. If old patterns encourage high levels of stress, why are we so resistant to something newer and perhaps better for us? What if the ‘new’ involves incredible challenge? Does this then mean we put the new things aside for now?

I completely understand and empathise with how the rigours of life can send us into a spiral of unimaginable stress. There is no judgement on putting a dream/something new to one side in the interim, if this means that your stress levels automatically go down. :-)

But do they? Or do we sometimes lull ourselves into a false sense of security, that perhaps the grass will be greener on the other side? :-( Having encountered this scenario myself on many ocasions in my life, the things that I felt would reduce my stress if I kept doing them, infact made my stress slightly worse in the end, :-( so much so, that certain decisions about where I was living, at the time and how I wanted to live my life from now on, were made, during a walk on a beach in Brighton. :-) I can tell you here and now, that eventually, I came back to ‘new’ things that helped me to move towards a more balanced body and lifestyle and inevitably improved my overall outlook, so that I once again found my joie de vivre. :-)

As I have tried to avoid scenarious this week, getting all philosophical on you, seemed like the next best step :-) lol.x

For now, perhaps use the next day or two, to wind down with a walk that opens up your mind to the incredible potential of your creation. :-) x lol.

Enjoy the following tips on your walk, or in a small section of a garden or a park, where you can pace back and forth between short distances.

Tip 1
Inhale and as you exhale take about 4-5 steps forward.

Tip 2
Inhale and take 5 steps forward again, exhale and pick up your pace on the next 6 steps forward.

Tip 3
Inale, slow your pace down to 4 steps, Exhale pick up your pace to 6 steps. :-)

Repeat the above tips about 6 times.

Well done . :-) x

Each challenge that I write about will have a winner or a couple of winners as you can see here in a previous blog. So get commenting, you never know, you could be the one winning the next personal bespoke audio podcast. :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day.

Many blessings.x
