The Movement Challenge – Day1: A week of Questions???????
Why oh why oh why??? Right?
That’s generally what comes to mind, when I’m faced with a technical question, generally asked by yours truly.
Why make things so challenging to navigate and understand? This is usually a question I ask myself on a daily basis and when I’m at that point of frustration and say to myself, ‘oh, well, it’s time to move on to something else now,’ (usually after weeks of being unable to see the woods for the trees), suddenly the answer or solution is infront of my eyes.
Go figure.
It is said that “when the student is ready, the teacher arrives.” Very smart bloke, that Confuscius.
Digressing slightly then……
I have been pondering about my blogs over the last few days and making decisions about what I would like to share with you over the coming weeks and months and lately, I have written down this term - ‘movement generation,’ during my more inspirational moments and musings. I have googled it and discovered a few ecological resources, a social media forum on strategic change for youth, an engineering and computer based model of sorts that clearly lost me for a minute
and then, Voila, I perked up on the 4 or so references to neuroscience (neural wiring comes to mind) – talking my language, baby, hee hee! Albeit, in ‘geek speak.’
Satisfied then, with some of my preliminary research, I feel it’s only fair to mention that I am currently preparing a proposal for a radio show.
And how to focus on one aspect of something that I love, has been a real challenge for a creative like me.
x
So this week, as we move into a much warmer month, I would like to look at any questions that you may have about movement generally and this can include any style of movement such as Pilates, Dance, Yoga, Breathing etc
I will attempt to draw in other experts within these fields to stimulate conversations and discussions.
lol.x
Call this research, if you like, in preparation for going on the air
x lol.
Let’s have a healthy debate online and off. What do you say? And I will offer hints and tips in response to your questions.
lol.x
Digressing slightly then…..
I was asked a question yesterday (thank you Mark Hughes) related to the ‘water challenge’ and whether drinking 2 litres of water daily, meant just water?
Well, remember that there is plenty of water, in the food that you cook and the fruit and vegetables that you eat, all surplus, I would say.
Natural juices and herbal teas as well as water all contribute to your 2 litre daily quota too.
Back on Track, then…..
Question 1:
So my first question of the day to you is this: How do you get out of bed in the morning?
The answers that come to mind, can provoke the more witty responses, I know and to be quite honest, I can think of a lot of witticisms myself, but basically, I’m asking about ‘movement’ and how you move out of your bed or whatever you sleep on.
Enjoy and I look forward to your answers.
Many blessings.x
Dreams are today’s answers to tomorrow’s questions.

I wake up lying on my side – - stretch – - move Princesa (the poodle), sit upright – put my feet on the floor and head for my first cup of coffe w/hot milk – - and Princesa waiting impatiently to be fed.

Hi Liz,
As soon as I wake up I sit up and breathe to find that inner connection with my core. To prepare my body mind and soul for the day ahead.
Then I get out of bed and stretch !

I was taught by my father to always wake up to your right side, sit on the bed for a while, think of God… there is a prayer in sanskrit which we gotta utter holding both our palms open. I still do it. So the movement is get you upper body UP from the bed, from which ever position you had been sleeping, then turn to the right side, sit for sometime and then up on your legs. Hope i am doing something right lizzzu ?

I, like Ganesh, wake up on my right side..as that is the side I most always sleep on. I begin my day by meditation..before I get out of bed. Say a prayer..also like Ganesh, but with my palms in prayer position. Ganesh..you and I have SO much in common now don’t we?!!
Then start my day in a Positive way with a Chai..but i think Ganesh likes coffee….
Love you Liz!

Hi Dawn,
Thank you for contributing and answering today’s question. The breath is one of the most important tools for us all and especially for Dancer’s who are always on the move and using their bodies continuously. Preparing your body, mind and soul for the day ahead and stretching is great too.
Keep dancing always in body, mind and spirit.
Kind regards and many blessings

Hi Tracy,
Do you think I can use that picture of you hanging off Anu and Ganesh’s balcony reaching out for the palm tree so that my readers may get a glimpse of your beautiful spirit? Thank you for your contribution to today’s question.
xlol
Girl, I miss you lots
I may start to take a leaf out of your book and place my hands in prayer position before getting out of bed. Very wise. I usually say thank you, turn onto my side press down with my opposite hand and sit up, before stretching and then head for the studio and meditation.
Enjoy and say hi to Ray.
Much love, hugs and many blessings

HI Liz
How do I get out of bed in the morning?
Awkwardly, then I sit on the edge of the bed, I’d like to think I was going to say a prayer like the person above does but I am slowly waking up. At the moment with my shoulder being stiff I find my movements are a shrugging exercise before I bend over and put my slippers on.

Thank you Sarah for your contribution, I will be addressing some shoulder issues and scapular/shoulder stabilisation soon. I’ll chat with you at the Essex Business Scene event tomorrow.
Kind regards and many blessings

Hi Liz! Hoping you are good.
This question is very simple but it is taking a while for me to think about how I actually do it! Often I wake up to the alarm and have to spend a few seconds remembering what I set it for or alternatively I am awoken by Leia’s giggling/babbling (needless to say these are my favourite mornings). This generally means I spring out of bed and get on with my morning routine without much reflection. Reading these posts has inspired me to take my time over it. Thanks!

No matter what time I’ve gone to bed, waking up in the morning is always a bad time for me; been that way since my student days.
I have this ability to incorporate the sound of an alarm clock (in whatever form) into my dreams in such a way that it seems natural and doesn’t require action.
Sweet coffee, music, and a simple repetitive task (Sudoku, data entry, or mails like this) for about 45 mins are need for me to start feeling human and think about routine things like shaving …
Warmest regards and blessings,
Roy
