Playing For Change On the Ocean Of Endless Possibilities……

Today, I was scouring through my networks and some of the clubs that I belong to, when I came across a beautiful video that brought so much gratitude and pleasure to my day.

Last Saturday, on my way home from a lovely day spent with this gorgeous lady and  her boyfriend, I was listening to Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2 and the discussion was about a wonderful Multi-Media project  Playing For Change – peace through music, which also now has a Non-profit organisation called the Playing for Change Foundation that has been set up to build music schools for children in need. (And of course if you have been following some of my blogs, you will have gathered that anything that has a hint of ‘movement’ in it will cause  my ears to stand up, my eyes to light up and the rest of me to start moving.) :-) lol.x

I was captivated by the sheer passion of how Mark Johnson and his team have managed to bring a group of street musicians and artists together from different parts of the globe, who really get what their craft is about at a grass roots level.

What I mean by this, is that the sheer essence of their passion, genius, calling, gift, is truly within them. They understand it, do it, take action by performing in the streets, villages, urban areas and towns and applying their craft to their respective environments. To promote the true essence of who they are as geniuses, it took someone with vision to see the ocean of endless possibilities of how to unite these gifted musicians from around the world.

Mark and his team have used the wonderful tools of their craft to make an album entitled Songs Around The World, dedicated to this project. Musicians in their respective countries were able to listen to each other by headsets and accompany the beautiful song ‘Stand By Me,’ which appears to be the Signature tune and one that we can all relate to in these challenging global times. Amazing isn’t it?

Playing For Change is about uniting people in an arena that encourages other’s with hope for the future, using music as the impetus. There is a sense of community amongst the musicians that transcends the ‘ego’ and watching the video really taught me a thing or two about the professionalism and humility of these wonderful artists.

Music and indeed Dance and art have that wonderful way of seeing beyond cultures, diversity, language and much more. They are the unspoken and spoken languages of our past, the hope of the future and such a wonderful and pleasurable way to spend our time.
This is really true giving with an agenda of peace, hope and love.

What do you think?

Check them out and support this wonderful organisation and the gifted artists as they bring love, joy and peace to our day. :-) x

Enjoy your day with this wonderful picture of a dear friend of mine, Ganesh in Mysore, playing the Tabla’s.
