6 Weekend Corporate Wisdom Tips – Part 4
And so the weekend is here and can be either a source of enjoyment or stress, which will it be for you this weekend?
Tip 1
At the weekends, place your work to one side, if possible and even if you are going on a golfing business melt down, take one of your children along. This is a great way to encourage and teach your children about social etiquette and what you are like in a different environment.
Scenario
My late father would take my siblings and I to his work place in the evenings, to teach us about what he did and how he related to people. He would also take us to restaurants, every now and again, to teach us how to eat soup properly, when in company and how to generally behave, when talking to the waiters and waitresses. I have never forgotten the importance he placed on making everyone feel that they are worthwhile. Very valuable tools in relating interpersonally with everyone that I have met along the way.
Tip 2
If you are separated and this is your weekend with your children, please honour it. It’s incredibly disappointing to little minds, when they have been so looking forward to your company (yes yours) all week long.
Tip 3
Where there is a garden and some sunshine could be a good avenue to have a water fight. Even a nearby park can be a great source of enjoyment for this past time. A Tent outside is another great past time too, to have lunch and to play.
Scenario
Here again, I harp back on a memory of having the neighbouring children in our garden and my Dad throwing buckets of water at us. It was so much fun and brings a smile to my face whenever I recall it.
Tip 4
If you are single, invite some friends to your home for a meal or barbeque in the garden. Nourish others and let them know how important they are to you.
Tip 5
A massage, hair cut, hairdressers, manicure, pedicure, facial, visits to the gymn, in your local community is just as enthralling and a good way to listen to what has been going on during the week in your community. It’s a fabulous way to network and let other’s know that you care about what they do and their contribution to your life and that of other’s, especially in these challenging times.
If you are short on money, pop in the door anyway and let them know you are still around. It brings them a lot of joy just to see you.
Scenario
I recall a few years ago, when a local hairdresser and owner, Jacky – C’est Belle on Whitehorse Lane, in Croydon, who is now a good friend of mine, she understood this, without me saying a word and would give me such an indescribable discount – I have always cherished that and felt blessed to know her.
Tip 6
Most importantly, have some quiet time for reflection. Get plenty of rest in your body – perhaps have a lie in on Saturday or Sunday morning. Nourish yourself with good food and conversation on one or both of these days in preparation for the week ahead.
And if you happen to see me observing how you move as you sit at a nearby cafe, beach or park, Come and say hello.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Many blessings.x
The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt.

Thanks Liz for your wise and thoughtful words which are so inclusive to all, particularly those who may find themselves somewhat marginalised. What a great reminder to nudge us all into action and to be the one who makes the offer to others.
I’ve just come home from a great event which makes this community so special and so inclusive, The Hebden Bridge Hand Made Parade. Children up to the age of 84 have been engaged in making costumes and floats for the parade on the theme of The Secret Garden for some weeks. Enormous movable puppets, snail and beetle, and a Green Man, along with tiny lady birds in costume, busy bees on their scooters and walking leeks and carrots to name a few, have made my day! And a brilliant samba band on stilts along with school children performing dances in the park. It cost the public nothing and gave us everything to warm the heart! As you have today. Thank you!
