Golden October

Sunrise!

The weather Doctor called it a Golden October
Something in the warm and chilly morning air soothed my soul sober
I curled back under the covers anyway
Fighting the urge to hibernate and stay!

—-

Sounds of a falling autumn leaf
Woke me up, the hues stared back, imagine my disbelief!
Looking out of the window, I watched the clouds descend around the hilltops
Turning the beautiful green of nature into a dark smoky blue garland of drops!

—-

A week of wet weather and skies overcast
Eyes turned heavenwards to see the satellites drooping mast
I made my way up the steep stairway of learning
Smoky pyramid in the distance caught my attention and yearning!

—-

An Indian summer in the throes of a Golden October
Smiled through the shadows and then woke the sleeping cobra
My heartbeat skipped and danced once again
Breath taken away by the beauty of a pleasant season’s friend!

—-

Yellows of the sun shone bright on the morning of the Golden October
I closed my eyes and soaked up the warmth in a crown of something nobler
Adventures so new, resistant and benign before
Tore at my soul and surrendered to my very core.

—-

I then took the road to a travelling moonlight in the golden light of October
Music adrift, an uncertain gear shift, singing along this time, wide awake and sober
My yearning for the chilly evening air
(maybe more of the same tomorrow) as it dares
Stopped me in my tracks – I ceased
To rush around, but think and soak up all around in grateful Peace!

10/10/07.
